Coal-Free Bellingham Initiative Campaign Kickoff Saturday, March 10

The rain couldn’t dampen Coal-Free Bellingham’s spirits!

About 80 enthusiastic and committed signature gatherers showed up on the steps of City Hall Saturday morning to kick off Coal-Free Bellingham’s initiative campaign to prohibit the transportation of coal through Bellingham. These folks join the 40 others who got an early start collecting signatures to place the Bellingham Community Bill of Rights on the city’s November ballot. The Community Bill of Rights asserts that it is OUR right as citizens, not the right of corporations, to decide what happens here. The ordinance bans the specific threat of the coal trains and also confronts the structure of laws that says we can’t do this.

We welcome you to join us!
